Photo App: Camera+

Camera+ is the one and only photo & visual editing app I have found that does everything I need and for a very low price of $1.99.

The app allows the user to enhance photos with the clarity feature. This function alone is more than worth the price of the app. Also, you have the ability to crop, rotate, add FX effects, borders, share with friends on other social networks (without having to leave the app) and so much more. The possibilites are endless.

From the creator:

"Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or someone who’s barely touched a camera, Camera+ will make you love taking photos.

Everybody has a creative side… Camera+ will help bring that creativity out in you, all with a fun, innovative, and beautiful design."

Video App: Splice

Looking for an app to help you edit the videos you capture on your iPhone?

I stumbled upon what I feel is one of the most valuable apps. It's called Splice.

Splice allowed me to edit the videos I shot on my iPhone 4s quickly and easy. I was able to stitch 3 seperate videos together seamlessly, while also trimming each, creating title slides, transitions, and other minor effects to my video. After i approved my finished video project, I saved it to my photo library and uploaded it to YouTube from there. Super simple.

I experienced a minor glitch. After I added 2 title slides, 3 videos and 2 transitions, the app crashed. Somewhat of a pain, BUT I was relieved to find that once I relaunched the app, my project was still there, right where I left off. I wasn't forced to recreate the wheel. Thank goodness!! This crashing episode happened about 3 more times, each time I tried to add another action or item like a transition or video. I'm still unsure if the crash occurred because I was trying to add actions/items too quickly or if the file was getting too large. Eventually, I was able to return to the project and do what I needed to get the job completed. Glee!

If you are interested in giving Splice a shot, there are two versions available for download from the iTunes Store. Below are the links to both options:

Download the $3.99 Version (my recommendation)
Download the Free Version and $3.99 Version

If you want a couple of other video editing application recommendations, try Reel Director or iMovie.

Read the description of Splice featured in the Apple iTunes Store:

"Splice together HD photos and videos in an amazingly simple way. Add music tracks from your iPod library, sound effects, transitions, borders, effects (like Ken Burns, slow motion and fast forward), trim video and audio, narrate with your own voice, and much more."

Business App: Keynote Remote

I absolutely LOVE this app. I use it on my iPhone and I’m able to control and manipulate a keynote presentation on my iPad while it’s synced to an overhead projector. I’ve had one issue thus far and it’s that both devices must be connected to the same WIFI signal (you may want to enable hotspot on your iPhone and connect your iPad to your iPhone’s wifi signal). Even when connected, it took me a few attempts to get the two devices to speak to each other. Once up and rolling, this app performed magnificently. I feel it’s totally worth the small price of a dollar.

Apple Summary:
Keynote Remote lets you control a Keynote presentation on your Mac, iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch from another iPhone or iPod touch in the room. While you present, view your current slide and presenter notes in portrait, or the current slide and next slide in landscape. Swipe forward to advance and swipe back to return to the previous slide. Keynote Remote works with your Wi-Fi network, so you can control your presentation from anywhere in the room. Keynote Remote can use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth when connecting to your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.

Control your Keynote presentations.
• Swipe to advance or return to the previous slide.
• See presenter notes on your iPhone or iPod touch.
• Preview your next slide in landscape orientation.
• Pair your iPhone or iPod touch to any Mac with Keynote, or to any iOS device running Keynote.

Keynote Remote requires:
• Keynote ’09 on a Mac (available from the Mac App Store) or Keynote app (1.4 or later) on an iOS device (available from the iTunes App Store).
• A working Wi-Fi connection when connecting to a Mac. A Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection when connecting to an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.
